1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MyanOz (myanoz.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the service immediately.

2. Service Description

MyanOz is a community platform for the Myanmar diaspora in Australia and globally. We provide two core services:

  • News aggregation — we collect news from Myanmar and Australian sources, apply AI-assisted translation (Myanmar ↔ English) with editorial review, and publish bilingual summaries with attribution and links to original sources.
  • Business directory — a searchable listing of Myanmar-owned and Myanmar-serving businesses, modelled on a community Yellow Pages, including user reviews and ratings.

3. User Accounts

To submit reviews or business listings you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information.
  • Keep your password secure and not share account credentials.
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access at legal@myanoz.com.
  • Not create accounts for fraudulent, impersonation, or automated purposes.

You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Aggregated News Content

News articles displayed on MyanOz are aggregated from third-party publications. We comply with fair-use principles by:

  • Providing clear attribution to the original source and author.
  • Linking directly to the original article.
  • Publishing excerpts or AI-translated summaries rather than full verbatim copies.

AI-generated translations are derivative works. MyanOz does not claim authorship over source content. Original copyright remains with the respective publishers. If you are a rights holder and wish to request removal, see our Takedown Policy.

5. User-Generated Content

By submitting reviews, ratings, business listings, or other content you grant MyanOz a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish and display that content on the platform. You confirm that:

  • You own or have the right to submit the content.
  • The content is truthful and not misleading.
  • The content does not infringe any third-party rights.
  • The content complies with our Community Rules.

We reserve the right to edit, moderate, or remove user-generated content at our discretion.

6. Intellectual Property

The MyanOz brand, logo, platform software, and original editorial content are owned by MyanOz and protected by Australian and international copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • Post content that is defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or promotes violence.
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from MyanOz without prior written consent.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service.
  • Use the platform to distribute spam, malware, or unsolicited advertising.
  • Submit false business information or fraudulent reviews.

8. Limitation of Liability

MyanOz is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, MyanOz and its operators shall not be liable for:

  • Inaccuracies in AI-translated content.
  • Errors or omissions in business listing information submitted by third parties.
  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or our Community Rules, or for any conduct we reasonably believe is harmful to the platform or its users. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified via the platform or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
